3 weeks in...

Kaz will be 3 weeks old tomorrow...it honestly is flying by! He is growing and progressing more each day and somehow continues to look more and more like his daddy with time:)
He is coming up on 35 weeks gestational age on Saturday...which means at this point he is a little over a month away from his original due date.
He is working his way out of the incubator, learning how to regulate his own temperature. We are in hopes that he will be in an open crib in the next few days. He also still has a feeding tube, however he has been doing very well taking oral feedings. We are looking forward to getting rid of that as well very soon. Within the next week or two we should have our baby home as long as there are no hiccups along the way. We know every day is a little closer! We continue to thank God for giving us this precious gift - we are so blessed.

Kaz Clay is here!

As many of you may know, Preston and I had a wonderful surprise arrive a little early. Our son Kaz Preston Clay was born Friday, May 6th @ 7:03pm. He entered the world 2 months early at a whopping 4lbs. 14oz. and 17 1/2 inches long.
He was placed in the NICU at the hospital immediately after being delivered through emergency c-section. Every day Kaz shows major improvements. He started out on a CPAP, which helped with his breathing. He was hooked up to numerous machines which monitored his heart rate, oxygen levels, etc. He also spent some time under lights for jaundice.
I'm so thankful that God's hand has been over us through this entire time...as we watch our baby boy get closer to coming home every day. He is now only hooked up to one monitor which tracks his heart rate and also has a feeding tube, which we use for most of his feedings to help conserve calories so that he can pack on the pounds and be strong before his trip home. He takes one bottle feeding a day right now and seems to be doing great.
We are looking at another couple of weeks before he will be able to come home with us...we can't wait! We appreciate all the prayers and are so thankful for the support that has helped us get through this challenging, yet extremely blessed time.

Shower Time - the Countdown is on!

I got to have my first baby shower this past weekend at church...it was a blast! It was put on by two of my closest friends:) - Jessica Sloan & Karie Gorbett. They did an amazing job decorating, getting yummy snacks together, and making sure everything was coordinated (just the way I like it;) The colors were green and brown, which goes right along with my nursery theme. Kay Sloan made my cake and it was as delicious as it was adorable. I enjoyed my time with everyone, hearing pregnancy stories and learning about all the supplies and gadgets that I still need to do a lot more reading up on, ha! I just feel so blessed to have all this support and love for our new baby Kaz.
