Spring Weekends

I'd say one of the things I'm looking most forward to this Spring has got to be the fun-filled weekends with our family of three! With beautiful weather the past few days...we made sure to make the most of our time together...outdoors. (Except when the CATS were playing;)

We just had a minor "not-so-fun" appointment to get through on Friday before starting off our weekend. Kaz had his last RSV vaccine - for a product of the preemie world, this shot is essential to get through the winter (sick) season. Thankfully this has been another thing to aid Kaz's great bill of health through his first year.

We enjoyed our backyard Friday...cooking out and playing outside with the Kaz man. We even worked up a plan for a back deck to be built for us to enjoy this summer!

We also found some time Saturday to make a stop for Kaz to meet the Easter bunny for the very first time. He didn't mind his fuzzy paws or whiskers...I'm still waiting for him to be scared of something?! :) We met up with Kaz's friend Owen and they had a quick lunch date after their meeting with Peter Cottontail....which made for a great afternoon.

Our Sunday was perfect. The weather was great and we finally got to break in the picnic basket that we received as a wedding gift! We decided to pack up for a picnic lunch and ventured out to the Japanese Gardens. Everything was blooming and the pond was perfect for Kaz to stick his toes in. I look so forward to many, many more Spring weekends just like this one to come...

"All Hats Off"

We now have the privilege of seeing our once "suited up football player" without any equipment at all. After the monthly visit with the orthopedic yesterday we received some wonderful news. Kaz's head has basically outgrown his helmet! This means there is no more helmet-wearing boy in our family:) We are so thankful for the quick progress that his head has made and appreciate all the prayers along the way.

Lately he has become much more interested in doing things on the flip side (on his tummy) and I bet very soon we will have one little mobile monster crawling around everywhere!

With today being the first day of spring, we are just a little over a month away from the big 1 year celebration! My - how far this boy has come:)

One Tooth Wonder

They say when you're not looking or expecting things to happen, they do. Well this is true when it comes to Kaz and teeth. Kaz got to tag along with Mommy to a baby shower for a co-worker after school today and while we were sitting around, chatting it up, never going off topic of "baby"...Kaz grabbed my finger and before I realized what was happening, he stuck it in his mouth and chomped down. There it was - the 1st tooth!

Considering he has been drooling for quite some time now and given no hint what-so-ever of something rooting through his gums, I will have to say I was quite surprised by this new mouth member.

Thankful for these additions to help with foods to come:)

1st Guitar Lesson and Playdate

This weekend was just as eventful as any other...but Preston made sure to carve some special time out of the hectic schedule to fit in Kaz's first official guitar lesson. It was so neat getting to sit back and watch Kaz take it all in. While watching (and listening), I realized this was actually the first time we have all sat together while daddy played and we all sang, just the 3 of us...as a family. I hope there are many more of these musical events/lessons in our future. It makes me wonder what instrument (if any) Kaz will choose. He has been spending lots of time with his piano lately?...My money is still on the sport of football if I had to guess;)

Kaz got to meet a very important little boy this weekend (Owen). We had lots of fun with the Daugherty's Saturday! Michael and Preston cheered on the CATS, while Tyler and I talked about our babies and zumba discussed Coach Cal and game strategy, and the boys started getting to know each other. Kaz managed to drool all over Owen's toys and Owen tapped Kaz on the head a time or two with his "Happy feet dance":)

Go CATS! Now it's time to Spring Forward....

Double Digits!

Our once tiny "preemie" is now 10 months and thriving! At his last checkup he was 24 lbs. and 29 1/2 inches...which are probably inaccurate numbers since it seems he outgrows outfits overnight!

Kaz has been surprising Mommy and Daddy with lots of new talents this month! He is now turning over BOTH ways:) getting more comfortable on his tummy every day. We have quite a few pieces of equipment to help him get comfortable and strengthen his growing body.

Kaz is like his Daddy in many ways....but they are especially alike in one area in particular. They are both in love with technology. He loves his new app on the Iphone/Ipad that makes fireworks. Here's a little sample:

He is starting to work on staying on his knees and holding his weight through his arms. He prefers doing this while watching his all-time favorite...Baby Einstein Signs!

Speaking of signs, Kaz is now signing "MORE". It sort of resembles a clap, however his PT noticed him doing it today during therapy and assured me he is going to be a signing machine;)
He is now waving - bye bye and hi from time to time as well.

It brings me so much joy to see my happy boy improving daily and enjoying life! Thought I'd leave you with a few pictures from our recent, Mommy/Kazer "Snow Day".
